Rishabh Pant plays golf, Trent Boult sings: DD stars’ happy Sunday

first_imgThe Indian Premier League (IPL) is about to reach its play-offs and two teams (Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings) have already booked their place. With two spots up for grabs, teams are involved in a fiesty battle to be the final four for the knockout stages. However, Delhi Daredevils (DD) are already out of contention and are now only playing for pride and to put up good cricket. With the tension of qualification out of their heads, DD swapped their bats for golf clubs in a ‘DD-The Crest-Celebrity Golf Tournament’ to enjoy their time off cricket on Sunday.Organised at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, the tournament saw the entire DD team go up against the residents of the Crest and The Camellias, DLF5.The DD unit, including coach Ricky Ponting, captain Shreyas Iyer, Gautam Gambhir, Glenn Maxwell, Rishabh Pant and others played some golf at the 9-hole tournament in Gurugram. While Pant has been mesmerising everyone with his explosive batting on the ground, for the golf tournament, he entertained the crowd by taking his first shot with a bat instead of the golf club. Delhi Daredevils’ Rishabh Pant played his first shot with a bat instead of a golf club.Maxwell was also seen trying his hands at golf in one of the finest courses of the country. Glenn Maxwell also tried his hands at playing golf during the tournament.Apart from playing golf, DD also enjoyed some good music with the team’s very own quick Trent Boult also taking the mic later on the day.advertisementIn a photo posted by DD on Instagram, Boult could be seen singing a song while the music was being given by a guitarist beside him.DD are currently at the bottom of the IPL points table with just six points from 12 games. Despite putting up some good performances, DD have been unable to click as a team on the whole and that has cost them dearly.Early on in the season, DD won just one match off their first six and that led to Gambhir stepping down from captaincy and the mantle was handed over to the 23-year-old Iyer.Iyer showed exemplary temperament in his first game as captain and hit a brilliant 93 not out against Kolkata Knight Riders. Helped in putting up the total of 219 by Prithvi Shaw’s 62, Iyer then inspired his bowlers to put up a solid show and DD won the match by 55 runs. However, DD’s next test was a tougher one with CSK in front of them. CSK gave them a massive 211 to chase and despite two superlative innings from Pant (79 off 45 deliveries) and Vijay Shankar (54 off 31 balls), DD fell short by 13 runs.Thereafter, DD could manage only a single victory (against Rajasthan Royals) and then lost two consecutive games to SRH and then by 5 wickets to RCB to be completely thrown off the radar. All of this happened despite a scintillating 128 not out from Pant against SRH in Delhi.DD now have two home games left, their two last matches of the season, against CSK and Mumbai Indians. With young guns like Iyer, Pant and Shaw in their ranks, DD would just look to end their 2018 campaign on a high.last_img
