The man Giggs replaced at Man United tips ‘Giggsy’ to be boss ahead of Mourinho

first_imgManchester United should replace Louis van Gaal with Ryan Giggs, NOT Jose Mourinho, claims Lee Sharpe.Reports in the Spanish press claim the Portuguese has signed a pre-contract agreement to take over from the Dutchman in the summer.Former Red Devil Sharpe, though, has revealed he doesn’t want the club to employ ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho.Sharpe won seven major trophies during his Old Trafford career after bursting into Alex Ferguson’s side as an exciting teenage attacker, but was replaced by Giggs as both United teen prodigy and on the left wing. And he believes if anyone should replace current United boss Louis van Gaal, it’s his assistant manager Giggs.“I really don’t want Jose Mourinho in charge,” he told talkSPORT’s Weekend Sports Breakfast show.“As entertaining as he is, and as good as he is, I just don’t think his teams are Manchester United teams.“He plays to spoil rather than to go out and win and let people express themselves and I think Ryan Giggs would do that. I think Giggsy would be perfect.“Giggsy is perfect for the job. Manchester United need someone who knows the club and knows the way they should be playing and that has a comradery with the fans and he’s got all that.“I know it’s a risk because he’s a brand new manager and he’s still young, but he’s worked under the best. He’s been under Sir Alex Ferguson, he’s seen David Moyes there, who was a bit of a tactician, and now he’s seen Louis van Gaal there for a couple of years.“I think he’s got plenty of experience, plenty of knowledge and plenty of know-how to have a proper go at it.”last_img
